S3 Data Durability, Redundancy and Backup Planning
HubforHost Cloud Object Storage uses built-in redundancy mechanisms to improve resilience against individual storage hardware failures. These protections operate automatically as part of the storage infrastructure and require no additional customer configuration.
1
Understand what redundancy protects
Infrastructure-level redundancy is designed to reduce the impact of an individual storage hardware failure. It does not create an independently managed historical backup or guarantee recovery of an object deleted or overwritten by an authorized user or application.
2
Define the recovery requirement
Document the historical states you must recover, the required retention duration, acceptable data-loss window, target restoration time, and whether backups must be isolated from production credentials.
3
Review additional backup arrangements
Scheduled historical backups, extended retention periods, independent restoration, and configuration-dependent Object Lock are reviewed individually during technical consultation. Availability, configuration, testing, and pricing are confirmed before implementation.
4
Test restoration
Maintain and periodically test an independent recovery process appropriate to the workload. A backup should not be treated as validated until representative data has been restored and checked.
